After 5,000 tweets ... an assessment

I've reached the 5,000 tweets milestone. That's the roadtest over with. So now I have to decide - is it worth it? Time to make a 'pros' and 'cons' list.

CONS

1. it's a huge time suck
2. it's a distraction from 'real' work
3. having just 140 chars makes for frequent misunderstandings
4. some of my followers are indeed bots, scammers or worse
5. it could disappear at any time
6. certain categories of tweet irritate me no end
7. my email inbox gets filled up twitter-related stuff

PROS

1. the ability to connect with/learn from/exchange ideas with all these amazing people, some the other side of the world, others on my doorstep, who I would never otherwise have known

Well that's it then, sign me up...
